History of The School

​

According to community people, Sagayad Elementary School was established in 1946 through the effort of the people of the barangay and is situated 3 kilometers away from the city proper. It has an area of 5,400 square meters which was donated by Mr. Urbano Apiado. Unfortunately, the old school was not patronized by parents and children because the school is not accessible to people and transportation, and so, the old school was unused for long time until 1984. Another kind hearted citizen, Mrs. Magnolia Antonino donated an area of almost 1,200 square meters for the children of Barangay Sagayad and other catchment barangays to be used to build a school. The new site catered four (4) neighboring barangays -  Northern Bungro, Southern Santiago Sur, North-Western part of Narra Oeste and Barangay Sagayad.

At present, the school has 11 classrooms, composed of a  2 story-building with 4 classrooms, 6 (7 x 9) classrooms, 1 kindergarten classroom, and a Principal’s Office. The school catered learners in the different catchment barangays over the years:
